“Wooden Music Shaker” and “DTR M&M Maracas” Recalled Due to Choking Hazard.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recently issued a recall for approximately 1,380 units of baby rattles, specifically the “Wooden Music Shaker” and “DTR M&M Maracas” models, due to potential choking and ingestion hazards. These rattles, which come in yellow, red, light green, and light blue, are particularly distinctive as the red rattle features an image of Minnie Mouse and the yellow one depicts Mickey Mouse.
This recall was initiated following reports from the United Kingdom of about five instances where the rattles broke. Fortunately, there have been no injuries reported in connection with these incidents. The rattles subject to this recall are identifiable by their numbers, 7495201 for the Wooden Music Shaker and 5311101 for the DTR M&M Maracas, marked on their packaging. These items were available for purchase in various stores located in Florida, Maryland, and Chicago between March 2021 and August 2023, priced between $3.50 and $4.50.
The CPSC advises anyone in possession of these recalled baby rattles to immediately remove them from children’s reach, cease their usage, and return them to any Primark store for a full refund. Those seeking further information or assistance can reach out to Primark U.S. at 617-946-3236 during business hours from Monday to Friday or visit their website.
In scenarios where products like these baby rattles cause harm or injury, affected individuals may consider filing a lawsuit to seek damages. This would typically be a product liability lawsuit, which is applicable when a product causes injury due to design defects, manufacturing flaws, or inadequate warnings or instructions. The legal process in such cases involves collecting evidence, filing a complaint, and potentially proceeding to trial. Throughout this process, the expertise of an attorney is invaluable for navigating legal complexities, managing paperwork, and advocating for the victim’s best interests.
Victims may be entitled to compensation for damages including medical expenses, pain and suffering, and in some cases, punitive damages, depending on the specifics of the case.
