CURiO has recently announced a recall of its Capri Blue line of pet products, citing potential bacterial contamination as the primary cause. This comes after growing concerns over some of the products containing harmful bacteria, particularly Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which is commonly found in various environmental settings such as soil and water.

The risk posed by this bacterium is particularly significant for those with compromised immune systems or individuals using external medical devices. When exposed to Pseudomonas aeruginosa, these individuals may encounter severe infections, which could necessitate medical interventions. Transmission of this bacterium into the human body can occur through several avenues – inhalation, direct eye contact, or open wounds. However, it’s worth noting that individuals with healthy immune systems are typically resistant to any potential harm caused by this bacterium.

The products involved in this recall include Capri Blue Deodorizing Pet Bedding Spray, Capri Blue Waterless Foaming Shampoo, Capri Blue Deodorizing Fragrance Spritz, and Capri Blue Detangling and Conditioning Spray. All these products come in blue and white spray bottles, with “capri BLUE” and the specific product name printed on the label.

Given the potential risk, CURiO advises consumers who purchased any of the recalled items between June 2023 and August 2023 to cease using them immediately. For refunds, consumers are guided to visit the official recall website at www.CBPetCareRecall.com. They should fill out the refund request form provided there and take a picture of the product with their initials and date clearly marked on it. This picture then needs to be emailed to CBPetCareRecall@curiobrands.com. CURiO has recommended disposing of the entire product (without emptying its contents) in the regular household trash.

It’s worth noting that there have been incidents linking the product to health issues. The company has confirmed that it’s looking into reports concerning infections in eleven dogs, trying to ascertain if these are directly connected to the recalled products. The products could also injure pet owners who use the recalled products.

These pet care products were primarily sold at specialty stores and could also be found online at www.capri-blue.com. They retailed between $14 and $20 from June 2023 to August 2023. CURiO Brands LLC, the distributor based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has been particularly proactive in managing this recall.
