According to a recent announcement by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Coca-Cola Bottling Group United, based in College Park, Georgia, has initiated a recall of 177 cases of its Coca-Cola Ultimate products, as relayed by Food Safety News. The implicated products—distributed in Georgia—are packaged in 20-ounce plastic bottles, with 24 individual bottles included in each case.
The products subject to recall are identifiable by the UPC 049000552065 and lot number SEP2523CPA, as printed on the bottle. Additionally, they bear a best-by date of Sept. 25, 2023.
The firm has acknowledged that a labeling error could pose significant health risks for certain individuals.
According to the firm, a packaging error has instigated the current recall, as reported by Food Safety News. Specifically, Coca-Cola Ultimate was dispatched in bottles inaccurately labeled as Coca-Cola Ultimate Zero Sugar.
The notice states that individuals with specific pre-existing health conditions, including diabetes and heart disease, could face severe health consequences if they inadvertently consume excessive amounts of sugar.
