FeraDyne Outdoors Announces Recall of Rhino Tree Stands Due to Risk of Falling

FeraDyne Outdoors has recalled about 50,000 Rhino Tree Stands due to fall hazards from non-compliant safety harnesses. The harnesses, identified by specific stitching, do not meet safety standards and may rip, posing risks to users. Consumers should stop using the stands and can obtain a free replacement harness by proving destruction of the original. No injuries have been reported. The stands were sold from February 2021 to December 2022. Legal action may be pursued for injuries, with Parker Waichman LLP offering free consultations.

FeraDyne Outdoors Announces Recall

FeraDyne Outdoors has recently issued a recall for approximately 50,000 Rhino Tree Stands, including an additional 340 units sold in Canada, as of December 21, 2023. The recall has been prompted by findings that the safety harnesses of these stands do not meet the voluntary industry safety standard, ASTM F2337-21. Specifically, the issue lies in the harness stitching, which has been found to be prone to ripping, thus presenting a significant fall hazard to users.

The affected products are the Rhino Tree Stands with model numbers RTH-2000S and RTH-2001S, which were sold as part of various Rhino Tree and Ladder Stand models. The safety harnesses in question are identifiable by their black cloth strips and white cloth tether, which are stitched together with orange thread. Each harness, included in the box of the tree stand products, bears a label with the model number “RTH-2000S” or “RTH-2001S”.

In light of this safety issue, consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled tree stands. FeraDyne Outdoors has provided instructions for obtaining a replacement tree stand safety harness, which will be shipped free of charge. To receive the replacement, consumers are required to submit proof of destruction of the original safety harness.

To date, there have been no reported incidents or injuries related to this issue. These tree stands were sold at various retailers, including Dick’s Merchandising & Supply, Orscheln Farm & Home, and other hunting and supply stores, as well as online through Amazon.com and other websites, from February 2021 to December 2022. The products were priced between $110 and $360. FeraDyne Outdoors, based in Superior, Wisconsin, is the importer of these China-manufactured stands.

The Legal Implications and Pursuing Compensation

The revelation that the Rhino Tree Stands pose a fall hazard due to faulty safety harness stitching raises significant safety concerns for users. Individuals who have suffered injuries as a result of this defect may have grounds to file a product liability lawsuit against FeraDyne Outdoors.

In such a lawsuit, the victim must establish that the product was inherently defective and that this defect was the direct cause of their injury. The process of filing a product liability claim involves multiple steps, including gathering evidence, initiating legal action, and navigating the discovery and potential trial phases.

The assistance of a skilled attorney is crucial in these cases. Legal representation ensures that the victim’s rights are protected, and that the complexities of the legal system are effectively navigated. An experienced lawyer can also aid in securing fair compensation.

Victims may be entitled to damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and other related costs. In certain cases, punitive damages may also be pursued.
