RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is urging owners of Frigidaire 2-in-1 washer and dryer units to verify their model numbers, as these appliances may pose a significant fire hazard that could lead to injuries, property loss, and/or deaths.

CPSC has announced a recall on all Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers sold with the following model and serial number ranges:

  • Model number FFLG4033QWX, with serial numbers 4E44114739 through 4E81603034.
  • Model number FFLG4033QTX, with serial numbers 4E44308482 through 4E81603380.

To determine if their units are affected, consumers can locate the serial number on a white sticker located inside the dryer door. The recalled Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers were available in both white and titanium finishes.

Images of the two Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers being recalled, featuring titanium and white colors, are provided by CPSC for reference.

It is essential for owners of the affected appliances to cease their use immediately. The CPSC has identified a potential fire risk stemming from the folding of the dryer drum’s felt seal, which can lead to the accumulation of lint and subsequent ignition.

As of the recall date, the CPSC has received reports of 23 fires and one incident of smoke inhalation injury caused by these units.

The affected appliances were sold between October 2014 and April 2018 in white and titanium finishes at major retailers like Lowe’s, Home Depot, and other authorized dealers. The average retail price was approximately $1,400.

Owners of the Frigidaire Gas Laundry Centers included in the recall are strongly advised to contact the Electrolux Group, the manufacturer of the appliances, to arrange for a thorough inspection, repair, and lint buildup cleaning at no cost.

Contact information for the Electrolux Group is as follows:

  • Online: Visit LaundryCenterRecall.com or Fridigaire.com and click on “Product Recalls.”

Although this process has been long, I have been very fortunate to have Christina Morace assigned to my claim. From the beginning, she has been able to answer all of my questions and lead me along through the process of submitting documents. She answers all questions whether by phone or email in a timely manner. Tina is extremely professional and has a very personal manner in dealing with the complicated aspects of the WTC Victims Compensation Fund claim. I feel totally comfortable with her and highly recommend her to any other claimants who may be going through this process.

Benita Rollis, paralegal, was very professional, yet compassionate. She made an emotional process bearable. Benita represented the firm very well. Michelle Josama picked up where Benita left off for the final leg of the process and is displaying the same professionalism as Benita. Thank you Parker Waichman for such a good experience during such an emotional journey.
