TJX Recalls Haining Degao Benches Due to Fall Hazard

TJX, the parent company of popular retail chains Marshalls and T.J. Maxx, has issued a recall for Haining Degao Benches due to a fall hazard. The recall, announced on June 8, 2023, affects approximately 10,850 units of the product sold across the United States.
The reason for the recall is that the legs of the Haining Degao Benches can break or detach when a consumer is seated on the bench, posing a risk of falls and potential injuries. The firm has already received 21 reports of incidents where the legs broke or detached while customers were using the bench, resulting in 17 reports of injuries such as bruises, scratches, and back strains.
The Haining Degao Benches under recall have a cushion top and four wooden legs that screw into the bench. They were sold in various colors, including navy, gray, cream, white, and yellow. The dimensions of the bench are approximately 42 inches long by 15.5 inches deep by 17.5 inches tall. Look for the labels “HAINING DEGAO HOME FURNISHINGS CO., LTD.” and “MADE IN CHINA” underneath the bench to identify the affected product.
Consumers who have purchased these recalled benches are advised to immediately stop using them. TJX is offering a full refund to customers who participate in the recall and properly dispose of the benches from their homes. To obtain a refund or for further information, consumers can contact TJX toll-free at 833-408-0502 between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday. Alternatively, they can visit the recall website at https://www.recallrtr.com/fabricbench.
Customers who prefer to return the recalled benches in person can do so at any Marshalls or T.J. Maxx store, where they will receive a full refund for the product.
The Haining Degao Benches were sold exclusively at Marshalls and T.J. Maxx stores nationwide from December 2021 through March 2023, priced at approximately $130 each.
The recall highlights the importance of consumer safety and the diligence required by companies to identify and address potential hazards associated with their products. The TJX Companies Inc., based in Framingham, Massachusetts, is the importer of these benches, which were manufactured in China.
