ZLINE Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission CPSC, certain ZLINE oven compartment gas ranges are being recalled due to a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission states that ZLINE 30-inch, 36-inch, and 48-inch RG gas ranges may be emitting toxic levels of carbon monoxide during use. According to the CPSC, the release of carbon monoxide can lead to injuries or death from carbon monoxide poisoning.

The recall report states that approximately 30,000 ZLINE gas ranges are part of this recall. The Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that the agency had received at least 44 reports of carbon monoxide emission from the affected ZLINE 30-inch, 36-inch, and 48-inch RG gas ranges. In three of those adverse events, customers required medical attention.

The affected ZLINE 30-inch, 36-inch, and 48-inch RG gas ranges have model numbers RG48, RGS-48, and RGB-48. The previously recalled ZLINE gas ranges have the following model numbers: RG30, RGS-30, RGB-30, RG36, RGS-36, and RGB-36.

The recalled ZLINE gas ranges were sold nationwide from February 2019 until December 2022 at Lowe’s, Best Buy, The Range Hood Store, The Home Depot, and many online stores, which can be found here. Those customers who purchased a recalled gas range should immediately stop using the oven compartment and contact ZLINE to have a free in-home inspection and repair.

The Symptoms of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Carbon Monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas that is toxic to human beings. Those who are exposed to high levels of Carbon Monoxide may not know that they are being exposed to dangerous levels of Carbon Monoxide. The symptoms of low to moderate Carbon Monoxide poisoning include:

  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea

High levels of Carbon Monoxide poisoning produces much more severe symptoms, such as:

  • Loss of consciousness
  • Loss of muscular coordination
  • Mental confusion
  • Vomiting
  • Death

The severity of the symptoms is related to both the duration of exposure and the level of CO exposure. Slow-developing CO exposure creates symptoms similar to the flu. Tragically, some people are unable to discover the CO problem until it is too late. Rapid exposure to high levels of CO produces symptoms in which the victims rapidly become mentally confused, lose muscle control, and will die if they are not rescued.

Engaged PW after my mother's untimely passing in 2018. Sought help with other firms who declined but PW felt strongly we had a case. Although hampered by the court delays of the Pandemic and the horrible and ongoing, wretched behavior of the defendants, PW endured to eventual success. I credit many along the way but especially Michele Josama who was one of the very first people I met in the journey. She and the others helped me through a very difficult and emotionally trying period against an awful nursing home group. They believed we would persevere and we did! PW professionals are knowledgeable, tough and compassionate. You pushed it over the line, Craig Snyder, thanks! And MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!! I would not hesitate in engaging this qualified firm again.
