2018-2021 Kia Stinger Loss of Power Accident Lawsuit Lawyers

Kia has recalled 18,000 Stinger models from 2018-2021 due to a defect in the fuel control valve plunger, which can cause over-pressurization and loss of drive power, increasing accident risks. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is overseeing the recall, with affected owners notified by November 10. Kia will update the engine control unit software and inspect or replace the fuel pump if needed, free of charge. This follows previous recalls of Kia and Hyundai vehicles for fire risks due to ABS issues.

Recently, a leading automobile manufacturer, Kia, has raised alarms within the automotive community due to concerns regarding one of its popular car models. Specifically, a defect in the valve plunger has been identified as a significant risk factor that could dramatically increase the likelihood of accidents and subsequent injuries. The recall affects 18,000 2018-2021 Stinger cars.

The crux of the issue lies in the fuel control valve plunger. Reports indicate that the plunger may get lodged within the high-pressure fuel pump, leading to extreme over-pressurization and a consequent loss of the vehicle’s drive power. This, understandably, amplifies the risk of on-road mishaps, creating an imminent threat to driver safety.

Thankfully, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has been vigilant in addressing this concern. A recall acknowledgment letter disseminated by NHTSA revealed that affected car owners would be duly informed by November 10. Kia, in its efforts to rectify the situation, has committed to instructing its dealerships to upgrade the engine control unit software. Additionally, these dealers will conduct a thorough inspection and, if deemed necessary, replace the fuel pump at no charge to the vehicle owner.

This isn’t the first time safety issues have been flagged concerning Kia vehicles. A previous warning had targeted both Hyundai and Kia, where over three million cars were recalled due to fire risks linked to more than 23 distinct models. These models, produced between 2010 and 2017, displayed a concerning flaw within the anti-lock braking system. This flaw was traced back to the ABS potentially leaking fluid into the engine compartment, a situation which could result in short circuits and ensuing electrical fires. The culprit? A compromised O-ring affected by prolonged exposure to brake fluid.

Both Hyundai and Kia, in collaboration with NHTSA, have actively campaigned to notify drivers and retrieve the affected vehicles. While Hyundai proposed a solution involving the replacement of a fuse within the ABS module, Kia’s remediation strategy remains pending, although it’s anticipated to follow a similar course.

For those injured in an accident cause by an auto defect, understanding one’s legal rights is very important. If an individual believes they’ve sustained injuries or damages as a result of an auto defect, there’s a potential to pursue a product liability lawsuit. Such legal avenues could allow victims to seek compensation for a variety of damages, including but not limited to medical bills, lost wages, property damage, and even pain and suffering.
