The tents were listed under several names including “Portable Baby Tent,” “CCATTO Pop Up Beach Tent for Baby,” and “Enhanced Ventilation, UPF 50+ Sun Shelter for Infant, Baby Camping Bed with Mosquito Net (Pegs, Travel Bag, Bonus Cooling Sleeping Kit Included).”
CPSC underscores that the safest sleep environment for an infant is on a solid, level surface, such as a crib or bassinet, using only fitted sheets devoid of pillows or blankets that could pose suffocation hazards.
Parents also received advice from a paramedic urging them to apply sunscreen on their infants, irrespective of overcast or cool conditions.
A social media account on TikTok, Tiny Hearts, demonstrated the importance of sun safety even during overcast conditions by sharing an image of a sunburnt baby with a bright red upper body. The user, known as @tinyheartseducation, emphasized that days with overcast skies could be “the most dangerous days” for infants and young children due to deceptive UV levels.
