Potential detachment of brake hose identified as a crash hazard, affecting nearly 97,000 units.

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Promax hydraulic disc brakes, as specified on certain models of Trek Bicycles, are currently being recalled due to a potential issue where the brake hose may disengage from the lever, thus posing a risk of accidents.
The recall pertains to bikes outfitted with version 1 of the Promax Solve DSK-925 and Promax F1 DSK-927 hydraulic disc brakes. These brakes were originally installed on the bike models that are detailed on the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall page. A sticker affixed underneath the bicycle’s frame displays the serial number.
The recall impacts approximately 96,900 bicycles. So far, Trek has documented 195 incidents of brake hose detachment within the U.S. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries.
Owners of these bicycles are advised to cease using them immediately and reach out to their nearest authorized Trek dealer to arrange a complimentary inspection and repair. They can verify if their bicycle is part of the recall by cross-referencing their bike’s serial number. For assistance, Trek can be contacted at 800-373-4594 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Central Time, Monday to Friday.
These bicycles were sold both online and in stores nationwide, between June 2021 and March 2023, with prices ranging from $730 to $3,300.
